Day of Magic
Saturday April 28th was a magical day for the residents and supporters of Stevenson House.
Close to 50 volunteers from Stanford University Facilities Operations Group, organized and administered by the grass roots collaborative, Rebuilding Together Peninsula, provided painting and tiling skills and materials as they refurbished our dining room, lounge, entry and hallways.
Then, as if that weren’t miracle enough, the California Landscape Contractors Association providing both crew (many from Care of Trees of Menlo Park) and materials, repaired and rejuvenated all sprinkler systems on the Stevenson House property. With plans prepared by a Palo Alto Adult Education class taught by noted landscape designer Fran Adams, CLCA enhanced and beautified Stevenson House grounds, strategically adding over 100 plants. They repaired and constructed sturdy, user-friendly, raised beds and benches that will provide our resident gardeners a place to plant, sow, harvest and enjoy for years to come.
